Living in Canyons Village

Canyons Village is Park City Mountain’s second base and a resort village in its own right, with hotels, restaurants and residences clustered at the foot of the lifts. It opened as Park City West in 1968 and has been growing ever since.

At a glance

  • Where. West of SR-224, about 15 minutes from Main Street and a few minutes from Kimball Junction.
  • Homes. Condos, hotel residences and townhomes in the village, with single-family homes in the surrounding neighborhoods. Above the village, The Colony is a private, gated community of large ski-in, ski-out homesites spread across the mountain.
  • Skiing. Right at the lifts. The Sunrise Gondola opened last season near the Pendry, and the Canyons Village Skyway, a free gondola replacing the Cabriolet, is due to open this winter.
  • Outside. Summer concerts, lift-served hiking and trails that connect to the Mid Mountain Trail.
  • Errands. Restaurants and shops in the village, with groceries at Kimball Junction.
  • Getting around. High Valley Transit’s free village shuttle runs every 15 minutes, and a free on-demand service covers the village in winter.
  • Schools. Park City School District. Check any address with the district’s own locator.

Daily life

There’s always something going on: a concert in summer, a busy plaza in winter and the lifts right outside the door. The Pendry, which opened in 2022, has become the village’s gathering place.

Worth knowing

The village is still filling in. A stalled condo-hotel in Frostwood has a new owner and is expected to open as a Hilton Tapestry hotel around late 2027.

My take

My go-to spot. The Pendry plaza for a drink or dinner when the village is lively.

What people don’t realize. The building and ownership structure can matter as much as the residence. Rental programs, resort fees, elevators, ski storage and parking all shape the experience.

What I love most. There’s always something happening. Skiing, concerts, restaurants and summer events make it feel like a true four-season resort base.

If you’d like to see Canyons Village the way I’d show it, say hello.
